Rocky Creek Clay Dusters

About Rocky Creek Clay Dusters

May we introduce you to the Rocky Creek Clay Dusters (RCCD), a sporting clay shooting team registered with the SCTP (Scholastic Clay Target Program).  SCTP is a program of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF).  Through the SCTP, the National Shooting Sports Foundation in cooperation with other shooting sport disciplines including Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays, has exposed thousands of young shooters in grades 4 through 12 to the positive experience of shooting sports. Tournament style events are organized and conducted by the South Carolina Youth Shooting Foundation (SCYSF).

The Rocky Creek Clay Duster board of directors, coaches and parents endeavor to develop in young people a set of personal values, character traits, sportsmanship, integrity, individual responsibility, self-discipline and personal commitment – qualities to make them successful and positive contributing members of society.

The Rocky Creek Clay Dusters youth shooting team had a phenomenal first year. Thanks to the support of the individuals and companies listed on our website, we fielded 23 young shooters, from the 4th through 11th grade at 5 sporting clays tournaments in South Carolina, one skeet tournament in South Carolina and 6 shooters at the National Sporting Clays Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

Every team member’s demonstration of firearm handling and safety was complimented by every shooting facility and DNR representative we encountered throughout the year. Shooting skills have improved tremendously. Teamwork, respect and sportsmanship are evident in everything they do.

South Carolina fielded 15 teams at the SCTP Sporting Clays Nationals in Sparta, ILL. Out of 15 trophies awarded South Carolina brought home 4 awards; two 1st place, one 2nd place and one 3rd place. A great showing for our program on a National level.

Rocky Creek Claydusters is especially proud to say our Rookie team shooters: Seth R., Teddy H. and Jeffrey E. finished 2nd in the Nation in the Rookie Division. AND, we are proud to say that one of our rookie shooters (Teddy H.) finished 1st in the nation in the Rookie Division with the HOA (High Overall Average) for the tournament.
